From Lima airport to Miraflores: taxi, Uber or transfer, and what it costs

Jorge Chávez International Airport is in Callao, on the northwest side of the city, and Miraflores is on the coast to the south. It's only about 20 km, but Lima traffic is what it is: budget 45 to 60 minutes, and up to 90 in the evening rush hour. Here's how to do it safely and without overpaying.

Option 1: Uber (easiest for most people)

Uber works well in Lima and is what most of our guests use. Order it from the app once you have your bags; the pick-up zone is signposted in the terminal. You'll know the price before you accept, and you don't need cash. Cabify and inDrive are also popular locally.

Option 2: Official airport taxi

Inside the arrivals hall there are counters for the authorized taxi companies (Taxi Green, CMV and others). You pay at the counter, get a receipt and are walked to the car. Slightly more expensive than Uber, but the most reassuring option if you land late at night with a lot of luggage.

Option 3: Pre-booked transfer

If you'd rather have someone waiting with your name on a sign, book a private transfer in advance (your airline, hotel booking site or a local company). Tell us your flight and we'll suggest one.

What NOT to do

Don't accept a ride from anyone who approaches you inside or outside the terminal offering a "taxi". It's the one classic tourist trap at Lima airport. Stick to the app, the official counters or your booked transfer.

The Airport Express bus

There's an Airport Express Lima bus to Miraflores with several stops, cheap and comfortable. It's fine for a solo traveler with light luggage; with a family and suitcases, the door-to-door options above are worth the difference.

Arriving at Lima Penthouse

Check-in is from 4 pm, and our local host meets you at the building to hand over the keys and show you around. The building has a doorman. If your flight lands early, tell us: if the penthouse is free the night before, we'll do our best to let you in earlier, and there's plenty to do in Miraflores while you wait. From the malecón, our terrace and the Pacific are a two-minute walk.
