Working remotely from Lima: why Miraflores is a great base for a month or two
If your job lets you work from anywhere for a while, Lima is one of the smartest choices in the Americas, and for reasons that have nothing to do with hype. Here's the practical case, from people who host remote workers all year.
The time zone is the killer feature
Lima is on UTC−5 all year round, with no daylight saving. In winter that's exactly New York, Toronto, Miami and Washington time; in summer it's one hour behind the East Coast and two hours ahead of California. You keep your normal meetings, nobody on your team notices you've moved, and you finish work with the afternoon sun still on the terrace. Compare that with Europe or Asia, where remote work means 5 am calls or evenings lost.
Summer when it's winter at home

Life on foot in Miraflores
For a long stay you want a neighborhood you can live in without a car. Miraflores has it all within a few blocks of Lima Penthouse: supermarkets (Wong, Vivanda, Metro), pharmacies, gyms, coworking spaces, specialty coffee, laundries, banks, and the clifftop parks of the malecón for a run or a walk before the first call of the day. Food, weekends and everything else
Lima is the food capital of Latin America. A month here means you can work through the famous restaurants and discover the neighborhood ceviche spots, the markets and the menús at lunchtime. Weekends take care of themselves: Barranco's galleries and nightlife, the historic center, surfing at the foot of the cliffs, paragliding over the coast, and a short flight to Cusco and Machu Picchu.

Practical notes
- Entry: U.S., Canadian, British and EU citizens don't need a visa for a tourist stay; the days are stamped on arrival. Check current rules before flying.
- Connectivity: local SIMs (Claro, Movistar, Entel) are cheap; an eSIM bought before you fly is easiest. Coworking spaces in Miraflores offer day passes if you want a change of scene.
- Money: cards everywhere; some soles in cash for markets and small shops.
- Getting around: Uber, and your own two feet.
